Someone once said our brains are both the smartest and dumbest organ in our body, as it believes whatever we tell it.  I believe this with all my heart.  So, what does this mean?  It means that although it does not happen overnight, with guidance and encouragement, patience, persistence, practice, self-compassion and an open mind, we all have the ability to think new thoughts, learn new ways of being, create new habits, release ourselves from the chains that confine us, and begin living our best lives possible.  It is never too late, and it is never soon enough.

Just like you, I am a human being working day by day through this crazy wild ride we call life, navigating all its twists and turns and ups and downs.

Through this journey there are a few things that have become apparent to me that I would like to share.

  • We are the sum of all our parts.  Without all the experiences we have had (both good and bad) we would not be in the moment we are in right now.  We would not have the knowledge we have in this very moment.  The knowledge we need to help us shape our next steps..

  • What we deem as “mistakes” are opportunities for learning and growth.  Furthermore, we all make them.  It is impractical to think we wouldn’t, and beating ourselves up over them serves no purpose.

  • Learning, owning, and celebrating who we are authentically is empowering.  It is also what has helped me to move from a state of self-loathing and struggling to keep my head above water, to a state of feeling peaceful and fulfilled.  This does not mean that there are not still bad days, but this has made navigating those bad days and challenges a whole lot easier.

  • We are so much stronger than we realize and have the power to rise up from anything – sometimes we just need a little guidance and encouragement along the way.  This does not show weakness, it shows strength.
