I would like to acknowledge that here in Calgary, we sit on Treaty 7 Territories of the Blackfoot Confederacy, including the Siksika, Piikani and Kainai Nations; the Stoney-Nakoda first nation, including Chiniki, Bearspaw and Wesley Nations, and the Tsuut’ina Nation. Alberta is also home to the Metis Nation of Alberta, Region #3.

The land that surrounds us is part of who we are and reflects our histories. It is my personal belief that it is extremely important that we never forget to acknowledge the gift of land and resources that have been freely shared with us by the Indigenous peoples of Canada. By doing so we honour the traditional territories of the many First Nations, Metis and Inuit whose footsteps have marked these lands for centuries before us.
